Bohol is a sanctuary of natural beauty, offering everything from pristine white-sand beaches to unique geological formations. If you're planning a week-long stay, here's how to make the most of your time in this tropical paradise.
Getting There: Manila vs. Cebu
For international travelers, reaching Bohol is a seamless part of the adventure. You have two primary routes:
Via Manila: Fly into Ninoy Aquino International Airport (MNL), then take a quick 1.5-hour domestic flight directly to the Bohol-Panglao International Airport (TAG). This drops you right on the island where most resorts are located.
Via Cebu: Fly into Mactan-Cebu International Airport (CEB), head to Cebu Pier 1, and catch a fast ferry. The scenic ride takes about two hours and docks at Tagbilaran Port in Bohol.
Panglao Island & Alona Beach
Start your trip by settling into Panglao Island. Alona Beach is the perfect hub, bustling with great restaurants, dive shops, and resorts like the beautiful Henann Resort. Spend your first few days unwinding by the water, snorkeling, and enjoying the vibrant sunsets.
Island Hopping & The Virgin Island Sandbar
No trip to Bohol is complete without an island-hopping tour. Rent a boat early in the morning to go dolphin watching, then head to Balicasag Island for some of the best snorkeling in the Philippines. Finish the tour at the Virgin Island Sandbar, a stunning crescent of white sand that emerges at low tide.
Exploring the Mainland
Dedicate a day or two to explore the Bohol mainland. Rent a scooter or hire a driver to see the iconic Chocolate Hills, visit the Tarsier Sanctuary to see the world's smallest primates, and take a serene cruise down the Loboc River.
